Halloween…. Trick or Treat?

How was your Halloween?  Well, we had a fantastic day yesterday, my two kids did have a fun day as they expected it to be.

Our Halloween started out with carving our pumpkin as this seemed to be a big tradition.  I have not heard yet of a pumpkin patch nearby where we live, so we just bought our pumpkins in our local supermarket which were rather cheap anyway.  It was since the morning that my two little kids persistently bugged me about carving the pumpkin.  I suppose, they’re as enthusiastic with it so as the trick or treat that was planned for night time.  It’s just unbelievably crazy how they got so thrilled with this particular event of the year.  Is it because my two kids are the right age for it? or Is it because Halloween seemed widely commercialized? that you can’t escape from joining in with the celebration.

They are both too keen while they hollowed the pumpkins before carving them.

Pumpkins were all carved and looking funnily spooky, thanks to YouTube for the inspiration.  I had also prepared assorted sweeties for the trick-or-treaters who knocked on the our door later that night.

After our dinner, we had a quick shower and then got dressed for the most awaited TRICK or TREAT… I think Halloween won’t be complete without trick or treat.  Every kids and adults alike just loved the entertainment that comes along with it, who doesn’t anyway?

For this year, I’ve chosen Batman for Reimer and Batgirl for Ruby.  I thought the matching outfit looked adorable when I first saw it.  I was glad I did as they looked so cute on it too.  Aren’t they?

Before we finally headed out around the scheme and started our Trick or Treating, we put out our carved pumpkins first which we had proudly done earlier.   We placed tea light candles inside it and positioned it on our driveway to show our festive mood.

So we started our trick or treating, wohoooo! We knocked on a few doors of the neighbors, where we also came across other kids and adults trick or treating too like what we did, it was so much fun.  It was also amusing to see how other kids and adults too got dressed.  Some were spooky, some were hilarious, some were adventurous while others were just cute like my two kids, whom I can’t take my eyes off them.

Here’s a few photos of our Halloween escapade last night:

SAMSUNG CSCAs we finished going through the entire scheme, we went home with buckets full and heavy with assorted sweeties inside.  Both my kids were so pleased and over the moon with what they’ve got… it’s as if they had been deprived of eating sweeties all their lives, just ridiculous! When we got home, they both sat in the sofa digging what’s inside their respective buckets thinking they’ve got to eat them all before going to bed, absolutely not!

Overall, it was a fabulous day especially for the kids, having to experience Trick or Treat again.  Even better as the weather was cooperating, it was something we had hoped for, it was dry and warm.  We didn’t even need to put on our jackets despite being outdoor which would have really spoiled the sense of dressing up.

However, with outdoor activities such as Trick or Treat, bad weather conditions can’t be avoided.   Being wet and soaked in the rain will just ruin the pleasure that the kids are meant to have in every activity in place.  Fortunately, with bothersome moments like this brought by the weather, comes also the convenience of online shopping which is just as easy as pressing a button of your keyboard.

Children’s Waterproof Over Trousers’ is a popular online shop for children’s waterproof clothing at a relatively low and affordable prices.   Dry Kids was born to cater the needs of the kids’ love and passion for outdoor fun whatever the weather and whatever they fancy to play whether jumping on puddles or splashing water in the middle of the rain.  Being a mum, I know exactly how kids are attracted to playing with water and how messy and soggy it can bring afterwards.  Nonetheless, Dry Kids have all the solutions to this dilemma.

Best of all, Dry Kids offers Rain and Outerwear, All In One, Jackets, Over Trousers, Jacket and Trouser Sets which are available in wide range of sizes from age 1 – 12 years old.  High Visibility Vests are available to purchase as well for added safety during darker nights especially with the upcoming Winter time.  Apart from that, they also offer T-shirts, Fleeces, Caps and Beanie Hats too with various colors to choose from.

Therefore, waterproof clothes for children is something that every parent should invest for an assured advantage and benefits.  “To ensure that no rainy day will go to waste”.

  • It looks like you had a great Halloween. My two are a bit too young for trick or treating yet – they can hardly make it past 6pm without passing out asleep – but I have loved seeing what everyone else got dressed up as in all the blog posts this weekend. Maybe next year for us! #KCACOLS

  • Looks like they enjoyed themselves. They made a good job of the pumpkins.
They do look super cute in the outfits, and the weather has been exceptionally mild so far.
Why could they not eat them all before bedtime…..lol? #Busydoinglife

I just let them hollowed the pumpkins but it was mum and dad made the holes to make it more spooky, hehehe. Yes it was a bonus having a mild weather last sat, made a difference having trick or treat without any jackets on. They won’t go to sleep if they have eaten them all I think, they will probably just kept jumping full of sugars til the morning.

  • I found your blog on Twinkly Tuesdays. It looks like you guys had a fun time! I love their costumes, my kids went as a ninja turtle and a witch.

Halloween was more fun and enjoyable for the kids, didn’t wear costume myself but went with them trick or treating. That sounds cute, a ninja turtle and a little witch.

  • We didn’t do anything for Halloween this year. I didn’t even buy a pumpkin. But I’m in the UK and it’s not such a big things over here although it is becoming more and more celebrated each year. My kids are only three and 21 months though sou we have plenty of time to dress up and do trick or treating when they will be able to understand it more.

It looks like your little ones had lots of fun and they look great in their costumes 🙂

Have not heard of a pumpkin patch in our place either, so buying pumpkin in supermarket would be the choice. Halloween is getting widely commercialized now, that it seem so difficult to escape especially if your kids are the right age. I did enjoy looking at them having fun though.

  • Such cute outfits! It looks like they had a great time.

We didn’t do anything for Halloween this year – where we live is quite remote so we don’t get anyone knocking on our door trick or treating. My two are 4 and 2 and while my son has started to show a little bit of an interest in Halloween it’s not quite at the level where we feel like we need to celebrate – although I think that might change next year! xxx #TwinklyTuesday

Yes, trick or treating is more fun when kids are the right age… my little girl didn’t enjoy much of it last year than she had this year as she understand it more.

  • Love the costumes. Mine was Capt America. She’s four and I think Halloween might be her favorite time of the year

    • ReimerandRuby

My kids love halloween too, best time of the year it is apart from christmas I think.

  • Aww, they looks so happy out trick or treating. Their costumes are great and lovely that they were happy to have matching costumes. The pumpkin carving clearly went well too, great work! We loved seeing everyone else dressed up too, lots of scary costumes this year and only a couple of others. O was the same with his sweeties, but he was told he could have two and then we’ve been rationing them all week!
Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x

I’m thankful for youtube for their pumpkins tutorials, it looked rather spooky. Yep same here at home, we’re rationing them all week for their sweeties too, lol

  • They look adorable im their bat gear. It seams loke halloween is as big over here now as It has always been in the US. When my boys were yougf it wasnt such a big deal, and though we carved pumpkins, we never did trick or treat.
With the fab decorations these days, at least its easy to spot the willing hoiseholds.
Thanks for linking up, Tracey xx #abitofeverything

Absolutely! it helps when you know some clues whether to knock the door or not, it’s embarrassing when nobody answers the door. Same as my time when I was younger, have not heard of trick or treat either.

  • Super adorable! It makes me wish my son and I still live in the States! We just don’t do Halloween let alone trick or treat in Indonesia and I know he would totally love this. Your kids are so cute!
