First time Traveler – My Captured Moment

It’s link time again with Heledd over at  Running in Lavender.  My Captured Moment for this week is a photo of an 11 months old Reimer, a first time traveler, taken at Edinburgh Airport.  There he stood curiously looking through the aircraft that we were about to hop into while waiting for our boarding time.

DSC01642This photo was definitely a memorable one for him because it will remind him a lot of his first time experience as a young traveler.  To date, he had been to a lot of airplanes and to different countries at an age of 5.

This photo is a remembrance of:

First time to leave home for 3 long weeks.

First time to step on an airport.

First time to go on a holiday abroad.

First time to be in an airplane on a long haul flight.

First time to be in KLM Boeing 737.

First time to sleep and have dinner in an aircraft.

First time to be in a different continent from UK, in an Asian continent.

Most of all, it was his very first time to visit and meet my family back in my home country.

Relative to this photo as a moment of his first times.  This was also the time when he celebrated his first birthday in Philippines.  While we were there, he also had his first time to be on a boat and on the sea as we had an island hopping as one of the excursions we’ve done.  He also got his first haircut, a nice boyish cut that suited him better.  Hence, all those baby curls were gone when we returned back home.

Anyhow, there’s a lot of first time moments he had on that first holiday abroad.  First times worth cherishing and reminiscing.

What age did your kids first traveled on an airplane?

  • Oh that is such a brilliant and exciting moment to capture. I love firsts of anything. Both if my girls were under 2 when they first flew and I photographed them both at the airport too. A great picture x

I think flying at an early age is a memorable moment for them worth capturing. Thanks for your lovely comment!

  • Wow, what a milestone trip. We took Tin Box Tot on her first flight at 18 months old. It was only a couple of hours in the air as we were just going to Sweden. She took it all in her stride, but did have a minor breakdown just before landing after getting up at 4am. Can’t blame her really 🙂 #mycapturedmoment

It would be a good experience for him too in spite of the minor breakdown, it’s expected when traveling with kids I guess. Thanks for dropping by!

  • Great photo! I love photos of firsts!

  • Our twins were 18 months when they first went on an aeroplane. It was a 2 hour flight and they were good as gold. We went abroad again this year and took our girls (now 3) on a plane for the second time and they were just as good. I found that I didn’t need to bring toys or books etc as the surroundings and excitement of being on a plane was enough! Thanks for linking up to the #BinkyLinky

Sometimes we worry too much when traveling in case we missed something, which most of the time, the experience is enough to make them occupied and excited about. Thanks for the lovely comment!

  • That’s a super shot of the little traveler – great job!

I think kids naturally love airplanes, no wonder they’re fascinated with it. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Cute. Their first couple voyages are always so awesome as you see the bigness of the world through their eyes.
