Reimer was 2 years old when my husband and I thought of having another child so he would have a sibling to play and grow up with. When I finally got pregnant again, the feeling of joy filled us both!
Unfortunately, the pregnancy didn’t go on too well halfway through. I developed gestational diabetes. I was closely monitored, was prescribed tablets at first and yet my blood sugar was still uncontrollable, until to the point that I was injecting insulin a couple of times a day. Finally, it did the trick until I gave birth but it was a not a very pleasant experience at all. Additionally, with the pregnancy complications I had, I was prone to have a big baby AGAIN…. So, I was then booked for a planned C-Section at 39 weeks which actually made me felt at ease as I know what I’m expecting. Despite of it all, I was in cloud nine knowing I will be having a baby girl.
It was April 2013 when our little baby girl came to this beautiful world. She was born a day earlier than the scheduled date of C-Section. She’s probably fed up and can’t wait any longer same as I felt that time, no wonder she pushed her way out. Just as well, all went relatively fine. Oh! she’s a wee charm, especially with those pink girly stuff!
My husband and I were more confident and less anxious now with our little girl as we were equipped with the experiences we had with Reimer. When my husband returned to work after Paternity Leave, that was the hardest bit as I was left alone at home, nursing a baby and chasing a toddler. However, the day with them might mostly be stressful on top of my aching incision due to the operation but it’s always a pleasure to be with them. This is what motherhood is all about, isn’t it?!
Ruby was a very good little baby as she slept through the night as early as 3 months which was so amazing. Little by little, I noticed a lot of transformations of her before my eyes, from being a delicate baby who just happily sat on her bouncy chair to now constantly copying what her big brother is doing, both the good and the mischievous ones.
Here’s a few photos of her from being an infant to being a toddler.

It has been a year since we have our baby girl, how time flies, she’s now turning 1. It’s a scary thought that at her age now, she’s gradually figuring out that she’s her own little person and wants to do things on her own little ways and soon enough she will want her own independence too.
We celebrated her 1st birthday at home with a Minnie Mouse theme. We’ve invited some family and friends. Our little girl has no clue yet what birthday is all about that time, but Reimer certainly has, he was more excited for her birthday. He led the singing of birthday song for her and even volunteered to blow the candle on her cake.
I would say kids grow up uniquely even if they’re siblings. Our little girl’s growth development is slightly different with her big brother. Her speech is exceptionally good for her age and I’m so proud of her, she’s such a clever little girl! It was at this stage when she started showing her wee character, she sometimes can be moody, grumpy but she can sometimes laugh her head off for the slightest thing. She’s so silly at times!
We went for a holiday to Philippines in time for her second birthday, so that my family and friends can see her and that she would also experience celebrating her birthday in Philippines like Reimer had. It was so fun and has lots of games for the little ones and big ones too. Truly memorable indeed!

The two years with our baby girl seems so quick… Obviously, she’s not anymore a little baby, but she certainly is a little lady!
