Mine & my husbands’ love story is nothing extraordinary, or should I say it’s rather a bit common nowadays when people choose to marry somebody from a different race or nationality for various reasons. However, our love story became extremely special when the wee ones arrived and that totally changed our lives.
It was June 2006 when we had a first glimpse of each others’ profiles and photos on a dating site. Thereafter, we chatted frequently through the used to be popular yahoo messenger. And at exactly 4 months and 9 days later, He finally decided to travel 6,954 miles to my home country to meet me personally. Ooh! I felt so special that time. Who wouldn’t be?! Meeting first time was equally nerve-wracking experience for both of us, but at the same time we’re also overly excited as to what lies ahead…
Long distance relationship was what me & my husband had. It’s not at all easy – peasy, it’s complicated and yet challenging. This type of relationship doesn’t work for everyone, but it did for us. Trust, honesty, determination, constant communication and most of all, the eagerness to bond made our relationship last. Additionally, his frequent visits to me contributed more strength and vibrancy into our relationship. Thus, every time he flew over to pay a visit, we made sure every moment of it was memorable.
Here’s a few photos of our fun trips together.
My husband and I had a stable relationship already when he finally decided to ask the most awkward question he have asked in his entire life. Well! in contrary, that’s the easiest YES I’ve ever answered, I suppose I’m rather exaggerating here! It’s simply because he’s just an ordinary man with same family values and interests as I do. We share a lot of things in common and we get along too well.
Wedding plans was already in progress before he went back home to Scotland. As our wedding was held in my country, it was me who prepared most of it, which was so overwhelming. It was January 2008 when we tied the knot, when we both had butterflies in our stomachs, seems like a normal feeling I believe. It was held in Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral and reception followed at the amazing mountain view of Chateau de Busay.

They say honeymoon is a holiday taken by a newly married couple, then so be it… a day after our wedding, we flew to Thailand for a week. We went to a lot of tourist destinations like Safari Park, Dreamworld and Tiger Temple. Additionally, we went to the hustle and bustle streets of Bangkok. It was certainly not just a romantic getaway, it was fun and an unforgettable experience for both of us
Our next venture was processing of visa for me to eventually moved here with him. That process was stressful too, collecting documents and submitting it at the British Embassy. However, they’re all worth it when my passport finally got stamped and that was me ready to fly. Finally, it was July 2008 when I arrived here in Scotland, UK.
If you think the story ends there, no it didn’t!
That was just the BEGINNING OF US….
We then started a FAMILY….. it’s now our little world created with LOVE!
