Thank you Dad!

Who exactly is a DAD?  They say anybody can be a Father, but it takes a real man to be a Dad… For me, to Father a child is not enough for him to be called a Dad, he has to wholeheartedly embrace parental responsibility and selflessly raise a child in all aspects of life.

This quote says a lot about being a Dad…  To the two Daddy’s in my life, my Papa who is in Philippines, who have done his best to be a great Father and Papa to me and my brother.  We become what we become because of your utmost support and help as we’re growing up, we owe it all to you.   Also, to my husband who is an amazing Father and Dad to Reimer and Ruby.   Happy Father’s Day to both of you and to all the Daddy’s out there…

To my husband, as a tribute to this beautiful day of fatherhood, I would like to say….. Thank you!

Thank you for doing your best to become the greatest Daddy to our kids.

Thank you for braving yourself into doing parental responsibilities from the day the kids were born, giving them their First Baby Bath was one of them.  I’m so glad you did it because I was so petrified then to do it myself.

Thank you for providing the kids with every needs and wants in their everyday lives.

Thank you for being strict, firm and for scolding or telling them off when their behavior is unacceptable and needs to be disciplined.

Thank you for comforting them and soothing them when they’re upset or hurt.

Thank you for being an all around handyman for fixing and assembling their toys and almost everything at home that calls to be mended.

Thank you for encouraging them to do things out of their comfort zone which made them bold, tough and fearless little kids.

Thank you for infusing in them the love of travel, the way you shared it to me.   Consequently, the holidays we’ve been and the places we’ve explored since they were babies definitely brings some great memories in their childhood.

Thank you for all the tickles, snuggles, cuddles and kisses you’ve given them which made them feel your affection and caring ways .  The tickles on the other hand creates a funny giggling noise at home which is so pleasing to the ears.

Thank you for the undying patience which you have tried your best to achieve.

Most importantly, I thank you for the unconditional love you’ve continuously showered on us… life is so much brighter and lovelier with you around.   One day is not enough to honor you and to show how grateful we truly are to have you because you are wonderfully amazing every single day of the year.

Needless to say, the kids had a special gift for their Dad today too through my financial help.   We will also be going out for dinner later as well in the same restaurant as last year’s Daddy’s Day.  He loved the place, so it’s just right that we’ll treat him to a restaurant that he choose and love the most.

Update:  Photo of his well-deserved meal on my Instagram, of course it has to be a steak for Daddy’s day.

How did you pay tribute to Father’s day?

Did you treat Daddy for a nice meal?

  • What a lovely post. We didn’t really do anything for Father’s Day this year as N was working and there seemed to be so much else to do – gardening, laundry, the never-ending cleaning – that there wasn’t much time for us to do anything special as a family. But I hope that one day we will actually be able to celebrate these occasions as a family. Such a beautiful post. #KCACOLS

I was the same when the kids are still little… now that they’re a bit bigger and know what father’s day is all about, it make sense now having to celebrate it. Thank you for dropping by and for your lovely comment.

  • Ooo what a yummy father’s day dinner! Your husband sounds like an amazing father. The quote really does sum up what a great father does for his children. Thanks so much for sharing with #candidcuddles x

    • ReimerandRuby

Yes, he is. He might not be perfect but he tried his best to be an amazing dad to the kids, which I’m so grateful of. Thanks for dropping by and for your lovely comment.

  • A beautiful post! I am sure your Dad must be so proud of you making your way on the other side of the world. Your husband sounds like a great chap too. We didn’t do much for Father’s day this year because we were one daughter short, it didn’t seem right – but there will be plenty of time to celebrate later. A lovely tribute to your two dads.

What a shame!… so true, we can celebrate and honor fathers not just on father’s day, we can celebrate it anytime we want. Thank you for dropping by and for your lovely comment

I know what you mean and I think paying tribute is a great way to show appreciation of what he have done. Thank you for dropping by.

  • Oh my, that steak looks AMAZING! I love a good, rare steak and you’ve made me hungry! Such a lovely blog. Now the girls are older, they sort out Father’s Day, but I felt it was a lovely sentiment you writing a tribute to him. He sounds like a fab dad 🙂 Alison x #justanotherlinky

I think it’s my responsibility to honor him on father’s day while the kids are still young, but when they’re bigger, they can do it for him and I think that would mean a lot for him as well. He love a good steak too, great for special occasions, isn’t it? Thanks for dropping by and for your lovely comment too.

  • Awww… another lovely tribute post. A steak for Daddy’s day is definitely a well deserves one. We actually missed celebrating Daddy’s day this year. Oh well… we’ll have to do something when we get back from Thailand. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely post with us on #FabFridayPost Lovely to have you here as always. Xx

    • ReimerandRuby

Oh it’s a shame, but then Dads can be given honor anytime of the year and not just on Father’s day. But them I’m sure you hubby understands your situation too. Thank you for dropping by.

  • I want that meal!! Awesome tribute!

  • A lovely post – great to hear he also does the scolding when necessary as you hear so many men fall in to the good cop role leaving mammy to always be bad cop. #kcacols

    • ReimerandRuby

Yes, he does. Actually, he is the strict one at home, the disciplinarian. It’s a shame though that most of the time, kids prefer me rather than him. I think when they’re bigger they’ll learn to appreciate what their dad is doing too. Thank you.

  • Oh this is lovely, a real tribute to him, and he sounds like a wonderful Dad! x #KCACOLS

  • What a beautiful quote and you are so right as well.
